August 31st, 1989 (Part XII)

Note:  This is a series of journal entries from my two years living in Himeji, Japan (1988-1990).  I'm archiving them electronically through my blog.  Last names have been deleted and replaced with first initial only.  For details on this series of blog entries, see this post.

Monday we got up, ate breakfast, and boarded the bus for the perfume museum.  Di, Phoebe & I skipped it and went directly to the Galleries Lafayette to shop.  Everything was really expensive.  Di & Phoebe went one way, I another.  I bought 3 pair of French underwear (oo la la)and an Eiffel Tower card.

After the Galleries, we went to Reims (au revoir Paris).  We saw the cathedral there, then went to Mum, a champagne maker.  We saw the vaults, and learned how champagne is made, then got free samples, then took a group picture.

Then we boarded the bus to go back to Germany.  On the way home we watched Nick's excellent videos of the trip (which made the bus ride go really quickly), stopped for dinner, then went on to Mannheim.  The ride from Mannheim to Wurtzburg seemed twice as long because the videos went with Nick, and we got on another bus with the perfect family leaving everyone else that was on the tour with us (except for Mary Sunshine & a few others).

We finally got to Wurtzburg, said goodbye to Laurie & her perfect family, then got in the care & went back to Ochsenfurt.  We nuked hot dogs and bologna, then went to bed, exhausted.
