"Cocoanut" Orange Jumbles- Recipe Box #10

Not sure where this box came from but there are several references to Mt. Ayr and Tingley (Iowa), including this business card...

...so it either came from Granny's Attic Antique Store in Mt. Ayr, or dad picked it up at an auction.  I LOVE the graphics on this box:

It was JAMMED FULL of recipes, and fun little pamphlets (like this one)...

...and I thought this one for "Cocoanut Orange Jumbles" looked good.  It's credited to "Aunt Biddie" (on the back of the card).

Here's the card:

Here's the recipe:

Cocoanut Orange Jumbles

3/4 c. shortening
1 1/4 c. sugar
2 egg yolks, well beaten
1. cocoanut
2 1/2 c. flour
pinch salt
1/2 tsp. soda
3/4 c. orange juice

Cream shortening & sugar together.  Add egg yolks & cocoanut & beat well.

Sift together flour, salt & soda.  Add to the cream mixture with orange juice; beat till smooth.

Drop by 1/2 teaspoon on greased baking sheet.  Bake at 425 degrees for about 10 or 12 minutes.

Enjoy!
