August 31, 1989 (Part VII)

Note:  This is a series of journal entries from my two years living in Himeji, Japan (1988-1990).  I'm archiving them electronically through my blog.  Last names have been deleted and replaced with first initial only.  For details on this series of blog entries, see this post.

Tuesday, September 5th Di & I went to Neuschwanstein, Linderhof, and Hohenschwangau castles in the Bavaria area.  They were all built or used by King Ludwig, who was certified insane.  We left early, then toured the castles for the whole day.  Neus. was used as the guide for building the Disneyland castles.  Ludwig lived there for only 170 days.

After a tour of the castle, we went to a bridge between two cliffs and over a waterfall to view the castle.  It was beautiful.

Next we went to Hohen., where Ludwig grew up.  It was nice.

Next we drove to Linder...

...where Ludwig's cave grotto was.  It was bizarre.  He used to sit inside in a boat on a little pond & listen to Wagnerian operas.

After the tour we went to a Bavarian village then to an inn in a town nearby and ate dinner, then drove home.

While waiting in a long line at Neusch. 2 older ladies came back towards us and gave us their 7 mark tickets.  This told me that giving the Polish guy money the day before was the right thing to do and God was providing for me.  How neat!
